Patrick Mahomes exits TNF with knee injury
The entire NFL is holding its breath. Patrick Mahomes was injured attempting a quarterback sneak in the second quarter of the Chiefs’ Thursday Night Football tilt against the Broncos. Trainers came out to look at the franchise quarterback’s right and then appeared to try and pop his knee cap back in place.

Mahomes was helped off the field and eventually walked into the tunnel and locker room. He was quickly ruled out for the game.
The extent of his injury is still to be determined. As ESPN medical analysts Stephania Bell explained on Twitter. “As with anything dislocated, restoring normal position immediately decreases pain. Further Imaging to determine full extent of injury (associated soft tissue, etc).”
As Bell eludes and other medical experts corroborate, Mahomes’ injury could have a brief recovery period or be a season-ender depending on what is found on the MRI. The latter would obviously be devastating for the Chiefs and entire league.
Several of the NFL’s top quarterbacks shared their well wishes on Twitter.
