Joe Burrow’s season over after left knee injury

The writing was on the wall as Joe Burrow lay on the field in pain. Then the cart, then the tweet from the Bengals quarterback and no. 1 overall pick.

The injury came in the third quarterback when Burrow’s pocket collapsed and unblocked Washington defensive linemen Jonathan Allen and Montez Sweat closed in.

After the injury, players from both teams surrounded Burrow, including Washington’s Chase Young (the no. 2 overall pick), Dwayne Haskins, and Terry McLaurin, all of whom played with Burrow at Ohio State before he transferred to LSU.

Burrow was having a stellar rookie campaign. He started the game 22-of-34 for 203 yards and a touchdown before the injury. The game against Washington was his 10th career start.

After Burrow was quickly ruled out, Ryan Finley took over and the Bengals lost 20-9
