Colin Kaepernick wins Amnesty International’s highest honor

Colin Kaepernick has been shut out of an NFL following his controversial decision to kneel during the national anthem. Outside organizations see Kaepernick in a much different light, as a generational humanitarian who risked a career to stand up and devote his life to fighting racial inequality. Kaepernick has already been recognized by Time and Sports Illustrated, among other organizations.

Last weekend he traveled to Amsterdam where he was named Amnesty International’s Ambassador of Conscience, its highest honor.

Kaepernick follows in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela and U2 as winners of this prestigious award.

The much discussed quarterback almost had a workout with the Seahawks last month but it was reportedly canceled when Kaepernick would not agree to stand for the anthem next season. Seattle has since signed QBs Stephen Morris and Austin Davis.
