Ahman Green has a deep history of domestic violence
Former Packers running back Ahman Green was arrested Monday and charged with felony child abuse after his 15-year old daughter told police her father had punched her in the face.
According to the Brown County police report, Green became angry after his daughter refused to do the dishes, one of her daily chores. She alleges that Green threw her to the ground and struck her in the face.
Green was released Monday on $2500 bail but ordered to stay away from his daughter and any others that may have witnessed the incident.
He is next due in court on July 11th.
This is hardly Green’s first go-around with domestic violence. In 1999, Green and his first wife, Shalynn Vance, got into a heated argument on their wedding day. After Green proceeded to storm off she closed the door, but according to reports, he forcefully reopened it causing Vance to chip her tooth her tooth and bloody her lip. The wedding was postponed while Green spent the night in jail. Charges were later dropped.
In May 2002, Vance alleged more abuse and Green was ordered by a Nebraska judge to stay away. The pair divorced.
In 2005, the Packers all-time leading rusher was taken into custody after authorities responded to an attempted call from his second wife, Heather at their Brown County home. According to the complaint Green yelled loudly at her and hung up the phone as she attempted to call for help. “ Green was cited with disorderly conduct in conjunction with a domestic violence.”
Packers’ president Ted Thompson responded in the exact manner you would expect from an NFL executive:
“We obviously care about Ahman and the entire Green family, and we will continue to support them through this time,” Thompson said. “Because this is a legal matter, the Green Bay Packers organization will not be making any further comments.”
Charges were dismissed the day before Green was to stand trial.
