The Football Girl Logo

TheFootballGirl.com is an innovate site with the goal of making the NFL more accessible to women.  We aim to do this by not focusing on one aspect of the game, but on everything!  As you explore the site you’ll see we bring you a variety that includes all kinds of entertaining podcasts with players and other NFL VIPs, fantasy football tips, unique feature columns, and Melissa’s blog which focuses on the random goodness of the hoopla surrounding the game.  We also have a Football 101 section for those new to the game, and we’re always available to answer your NFL and fantasy questions via our Forum

The idea behind The Football Girl is there are a lot of “football girls” out there that care about the game beyond Super Bowl recipes and tight end jokes. So please poke around, and feel free to offer us suggestions.  And please sign up for our newsletter, which will keep you abreast of our frequent new features and offers NFL headlines and hilarious player tweets to really keep you in the know. Bottom line:  We promise to give you everything your football heart desires – minus the beer and hair loss ads!

Melissa Jacobs, Founder and Editor:  Melissa launched The Football Girl in Septemeber '09 to provide a source for women and others to get off the sidelines and get engaged in the x's and o's of the greatest game there is.  Melissa brings a rich career in the sports industry, starting out as the youngest executive producer ever at KNBR Radio in San Francisco and continuing on to ESPN, where she helped start the Talent Production Department and served as a talent producer for SportsCenter, NFL Lines, Outside the Lines and more.  She also helped produce Jim Rome is Burning and served a managerial role at the ESPY Awards.  While at ESPN, Melissa won two Sports Emmys for her work.

Melissa brings her experiences of covering the 49ers and Raiders in her early career, and more recent years of working closely with every prominent agent and NFL team to bring you a site covering all aspects of the game.  She is happy to be joined by our fantastic columnists,  The Wise Guy and The Fashionista Girl and hopes to be adding even more like-minded contributors in the coming months.

Melissa is currently living the life in Washington DC and is the commissioner of two fantasy football leagues, beating Stump the Schwab in one of the them for the past five seasons.
