Jeff Hart: Wednesday Linkfest for March 14, 2011

By: Jeff Hart | Posted: March 14, 2012

We’ve got a lot to get to today, and almost none of it applies to the exciting last 16 hours of free agency. I’m assuming TFG Linkfest readers don’t come here for up-to-the-minute free agency news – why do that when you could visit the Yahoo Sports Free Agency tracker? It’s like Twitter for those too confused to sign up for Twitter.

Okay – one free agency story: what’s with Vincent Jackson’s 5-centric contract? Did he want it to literally be ocho cincos? Is it a shout out to new QB Josh Freeman? Does he really like Arby’s?

Onto the shenanigans! In news that should be heartening to Bears fans everywhere, Brandon Marshall may have punched a girl at a NYC nightclub over the weekend. Marshall’s wife might have also been hit in the face with a thrown bottle, so it could all be self defense, or made up, or chaos. Obviously, those last details aren’t what reports are leading with. Take it from Hines Ward in this recently surfaced DUI arrest video; he knows what kind of coverage ESPN is most interested in.

What is more criminal than barroom brawls and DUI? This Drew Brees haircut from his time in business school. Would you buy VapoRub from this guy?

For those of you worried that Peyton Manning can’t go anymore, he just spent the weekend tossing the ball around a vacant lot with Brandon Stokley. What more assurance do you need? Open up those checkbooks now, NFL owners.

Greg Jennings is down at SXSW this week, hanging out with Kobayashi and sharing some thoughts on fantasy football. His comments on the fantasy leagues run by players are particularly interesting – how can I get details on one of these?

Finally, if you’ve got 28 minutes to kill, maybe check out this recently unearthed short film by the great director Robert Altman. It’ll teach you how to play football… in the 1960s.
