Jeff Hart: Wednesday Linkfest for December 7, 2011

By: Jeff Hart | Posted: December 07, 2011

I realize that I’m more than a little late with this story, but yesterday was a slow news day and I’m exhausted with covering items about Tim Tebow (like this one about Tebow-themed Christmas lights), so just go with it. Two weeks ago was the 10 year anniversary of the Jim Mora “playoffs?!” clip. Here’s where I pretend readers might not know what I’m talking about so that I can include a video.

Ahh, that’s the stuff. I’m sad that I let Moraversary pass unobserved. I promise I won’t miss the next one.

Okay, here’s a Tebow story that I do feel like covering. Dolphins LB Karlos Dansby told Jim Rome that the experience of watching God work through Tim Tebow during the Broncos comeback against the Dolphins made him, and other guys on the team, closer to God. The implication here is that Tebow is some kind of chosen one (Dansby describes it as “special anointing”) and the Dolphins, incapable of believing as hard as Tebow, had no chance against him.

We can officially put the Manning/Luck speculation to rest – Archie Manning has spoken. There’s no way his son Peyton is going to be playing with that Luck boy.

Did you buy your Packers stock yesterday? If so, beware: you are now subject to the NFL’s strict code of ethics and could face fines up to $500,000 for bringing shame onto the league. That means no more wearing those cheese-heads.

Speaking of shaming the Packers, Brett Favre’s agent made clear yesterday that his client would not rule out joining The Ice Capades.

In only slightly less bizarre news, the Steelers are angling to play a regular season game in Ireland.

Finally, when Jared Allen warns you that he’s going to punch you below the belt, it’s probably best to take him serious. Is this the only fun punch-related story in the NFL this year? Will Goodell still send down a fine?
