Jeff Hart: Wednesday Linkfest for December 14, 2011

GOOD VS EVIL, Day III:  At long last facing a call to account this Sunday for that decade-old deal he made with the devil to cause Drew Bledsoe’s internal bleeding, yesterday Tom Brady faced the media. What did Brady have to say about his mortal (moral?) nemesis? He said Tim Tebow is “throwing the ball great” and “passing extremely well.”

Huh?

Drop the charade, Brady! You’re going to have to come with stronger material than that. I mean, Tebow has college basketball legend Rick Pitino declaring his quarterback play will turn atheists into believers. By the way, I’m pretty sure that Pitino was quoting Kanye West.

Speaking of auto-tune:

Tebow even gets name-dropped in this piece about Cam Newton haters. I guess some people once thought Newton might not make it in the NFL, but wasn’t that buried after Week One? Isn’t Newton a shoe-in for rookie of the year? Glad you’ve finally caught up to the national story, low budget New York Times video blogger.

Anyone worried that the super-team player collusion of the NBA could spread to the NFL should relax; it’ll never happen. Also, Roger Goodell would never be so public about manipulating rosters, so don’t worry about any Chris Paul situations either.

Here’s an interesting profile of veteran Seahawks WR Mike Williams. There’s not enough written about guys who play a pivotal behind-the-scenes role in the locker room, especially not at a position typically reserved for primadonnas.

Should some struggling franchise give Todd Haley a second chance at head coaching? The guys over at Cold Hard Football Facts seem to think so. Also at that link: some great details about what a creep Bill Parcells is.

Lastly, if you enjoy reading a QB/WR relationship described as “a sub-cognitive bond that allows them to coordinate routes outside temporal space” – and you really should – then you’ll love The Classical’s breakdown of the undersized white wide receiver archetype.
