Jeff Hart: Tuesday Linkfest for September 13, 2011

Was anyone else forced to watch that entire ugly Broncos/Raiders game just to see if Brandon Lloyd could eke out 15 fantasy points? I wonder who’s feeling worse about it this morning: me or Broncos fans?

In news that I would’ve expected to come from an Oakland parking lot, not from the classy marshlands of northern New Jersey, a fan snuck a taser into Sunday night’s Jets game and used it. Rex Ryan warned you, guy-having-a-seizure-in-the-bleachers.

An overexcited Ron Jaworski said the S-word during last night’s Patriots/Dolphins game. Unsurprisingly, it was in reference to Chad Henne.

Is this Stevie Johnson block on Eric Berry a cheap shot?

Even with Eric Berry now done for the year, former NFL safety Matt Bowen over at the National Football Post argues no (the comments on that Youtube video tell a different story). The always effusive Stevie Johnson has already responded, first to Chiefs fans, and later directly to Berry.

For those fans still riding high after their team’s blowout Week 1 victory (like me!), Cold Hard Football Facts has a breakdown of how past blowout-opener winners have fared which might temper that enthusiasm. As for the blowout victims, more disheartening news: in the last 10 years only one team has recovered from a Week 1 drubbing to make the playoffs. And they had Tom Brady.

So I guess that means we can officially close the book on the Kerry Collins led Indianapolis Colts, right? Definitely; especially if you want to read too much into Colts GM Bill Polian scouting Andrew Luck. Also, it’s finally occurred to someone to ask why the Colts weren’t better prepared for a Manning injury (or for a departure to play full-time in that Oreo league).

Lastly, I’d like to welcome Coastal Carolina head coach David Bennett to the crazy press conference Hall of Fame:
