Jeff Hart: Tuesday Linkfest for May 8, 2012

Some amazing visuals from the paddle-out that took place in Oceanside over the weekend to honor the late Junior Seau. It’s one of the more moving tributes I can remember seeing. Those surfers really have it right.
Somewhat surprisingly, one of the more moving articles written after Seau’s death was penned by Bears WR Brandon Marshall. A bit of a media pariah during his career, this might be the first time anyone’s ever written that the rest of the NFL should aspire to be more like Marshall. His views on mental health are nuanced and adult, pushing beyond the macho culture that’s going to put so many of these guys in early graves.
That’s a macho culture embodied by Merril Hoge. The RB-turned-analyst called Kurt Warner “irresponsible and uneducated” after Warner said he wouldn’t want his kids playing football. Hoge also tossed in an argument about childhood obesity. Parents of the world, you have two options: fat kids or ones with brain damage. Choose carefully.
In a story just beginning to gain some traction, there are reports the league might have misrepresented some of Gregg Williams’ testimony on bounties. Unless the NFL also doctored that “kill the head” audio, I wouldn’t expect to ever see Williams again. That said, it’d be nice if the league produced their evidence.
Now is the perfect time of year to look back at last year’s first round draft picks and see if they lived up to expectations. And if you get tired of actual real world stats, let’s begin the argument of whether Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin is the better fantasy QB. (The answer is Griffin, btw.)
Finally, in a move that will garner more eyeballs than a full season of Allen Wranglers football, Terrell Owens will appear on Dr. Phil to work out his issues with his trio of “baby mamas.” I think we’ve officially reached the point on the Charlie Sheen Flameout Scale where Owens goes from funny to sad.
