Jeff Hart: Tuesday Linkfest for February 21, 2012

What with it being the off-season, the press has to work a little harder to dig up NFL-related stories. Sometimes that means hiding in the bushes of Gisele Bundchen’s Costa Rican beach house to catch the billionaire model and Wes Welker chatting it up.

The moral? If you own a Costa Rican beach house, you can talk all the junk you want about Wes Welker.

Mike Tomlin also had his off-season privacy invaded at the Ole Miss/UK game over the weekend. When a cameraman obstructed his view, Tomlin reacted in typically Tomlin fashion, which resulted in a local news producer calling Tomlin a “jerk.”

And yet, there were no paparazzi available at Jason Campbell’s wedding in the Dominican Republic. Rumor has it that Campbell left his fiancé at the altar. Or maybe he got married. We don’t know because there weren’t any photographers hiding behind the cake. Step your game up, guys.

Speaking of QBs with troubled relationships, Jay Cutler mentioned in a radio interview that he’d like the Bears to bring in a WR that’s taller than 6’2”. You know, Cutty, I think I know just the guy you’re looking for.

In case it doesn’t work out with the Bears, here’s a photo gallery of other possible career paths for Randy Moss. Unfortunately, Allen Wrangler didn’t make the cut.

Here’s a more in-depth look at the effect the new kick-off rules had on both concussions (reduced them), other kick-off related injuries (no change), and excitement (kick return TDs reduced by more than half). There’s also mention of the NCAA adopting a similar rule with a twist that, in typical backwards NCAA fashion, would likely cause more injuries.

Finally, be sure to check out The Football Girl’s ongoing coverage of her visit to the scouting combine. Hopefully, she gets a chance to interrogate Robert Griffin on his super-complex spread offense
