Jeff Hart: Thursday Linkfest for February 9, 2012

By: Jeff Hart | Posted: February 09, 2012

After three days of scrutiny and mockery, it’s nice to see one of the Patriots finally standing up for the squad. Linebacker Dane Fletcher replied via Twitter to remarks made by James Harrison (and Ryan Clark, and Amani Toomer, and…) that the Patriots can’t win without cheating.

While Patriots players, coaches, and quarterback girlfriends have been getting much of the attention these last few days, don’t think we’ve forgotten about those wonder New England fans. We know what you guys did after the Super Bowl loss. For shame!

Readers that aren’t fans of the Giants or the Patriots might feel a bit left out recently, so here are the 32 questions facing each team this offseason. That should give everyone something to think about, right?

Something else worth mulling over: these FOX Sports bold predictions for the offseason. I’m not sure the Texans locking up Arian Foster with a long term contract really qualifies as “bold.” On the other hand, predicting Peyton Manning to the Jets and Desean Jackson to the 49ers? That’s some daring prognosticating right there.

Enough off-season talk, I’m not quite ready to let go of this excellent NFL season just yet. Luckily, the kind people at Sports Pickle have provided us with a lovely slideshow of the year in embarrassing pictures. Catch up on any of the horrible Tebow tattoos you might have missed, like this gem:

Ricky Williams told the press that it was a text message conversation with Bill Parcells that convinced him to retire. I don’t really buy that Parcells is much of a text’er, but okay, Ricky, do whatever you want.

Finally, Michael Vick has once again been voted the most disliked athlete in all of sports. There are two ways to cover this story. Either “yeah, of course he is” or “get over it, America.” I chose a link from the latter approach because I find the attitude expressed there so bizarre. Vick served his time so society restored his freedom, not his Q-rating.
