Jeff Hart: Thursday Linkfest for December 8, 2011

The beautiful artwork you see above is actually what Roger Goodell required CBS Sports President Sean McManus to tattoo on his arm in order to keep the much ballyhooed Broncos/Patriots game from being flexed to Sunday night. Worth it?
Probably! Even satirical stock prices understand the value of The Chosen One.
Is s a world where a sports television executive gets a Tebow-centaur tattooed on his body really so preposterous? ESPN is dedicating an entire episode of SportsCenter to Tebow. Have we officially reached the overkill stage? Or was that weeks ago?
I’ve become so desperate to find non-Tebow related items for this column that I’ll pretty much watch anything, no matter how pointless. For instance, this video of Ray Rice shooting free throws.
How about we break the monotony of non-stop Tebow with some excellent sports journalism? First, The Post Game’s Jeff Arnold writes about the first Detroit public school to win a state championship, and the hate mail that they’ve received as a result.
Next, check out Shutdown Corner’s latest lambasting of the NFL’s head-scratching disciplinary measures. This edition focuses on the Eagles’ Trent Cole, who was fined only $7,500 for executing a judo throw on Seahawks OT Russell Okung. That’s only half of what Earl Bennett pays for wearing the wrong colored cleats. Meanwhile, Okung is done for the season as a result of Cole’s maneuver.
Or, if illuminating statistics are more your bag, you might want to learn about the mixture of dominance and futility embodied in the Packers and Patriots seasons. Both teams feature QBs on pace to break the Marino passing record, and both teams’ defenses are projecting out to break the record for most yards allowed in a season. Considering how well both these teams are doing, we might need to revise that old adage about defenses winning championships.
See? People are writing about things not related to Tebow.
