Jeff Hart: Monday Linkfest for October 10, 2011

By: Jeff Hart | Posted: October 10, 2011

Yesterday was a banner day for amazing catches. There were so many, in fact, that I’m just going to litter this Linkfest with daring feats of receiving, ordered by degree of difficulty.

Awesome catch #1 belongs to Steve Smith. While it isn’t as stunning as the pair that follow, the late hit, TD celebration, and brawl that result are worth a watch.

I really like how Smith finishes up his TD celebration before committing to the fray and totally punking Roman Harper. You know who would’ve appreciated that kind of aggressive extracurricular nonsense? Al Davis. The iconic owner died over the weekend. There’s perhaps no more fitting tribute than having some of Davis’ controversial first round picks come up big in a nail-biting win over Houston.

Awesome catch #2: watch as Dwayne Bowe fends off pass interference to tip a TD catch to himself. In any other week, this would’ve been the best grab.

After winning the division last year, the 2-3 Chiefs have to be considered something of a disappointment. Of course, they’re not quite on the level of the Eagles. The dream team dropped their fourth straight yesterday, pushing Eagles bloggers to the point of debating which coach needs to be fired. The answer is all of them.

Also experiencing some coaching problems? The 2-3 Jets. It has been reported (and subsequently denied) that the Jets wide-outs have risen up in rebellion against the dull play-calling of offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

You know who isn’t complaining this morning? Tebow fans. The popular back-up QB miraculously skipped Brady Quinn on the depth chart to appear in yesterday’s Broncos game, after a struggling Kyle Orton was benched at halftime. Finally, all my favorite Tebow fan-sites have a reason to update.

Awesome catch #3: check out this one-handed grab by Victor Cruz. Note how he’s already started to accelerate before the tipped ball is even secured. Pretty amazing. Too bad for the Giants that there aren’t extra points awarded for style.

Awesome links. Didn't notice that about Steve Smith. What's even funnier is he's punking Jenkins, who wasn't even the guy that hit him. Steve Smith cannot avoid a brawl!
