Jeff Hart: Monday Linkfest for January 30, 2012

In spite of a juiced up cash prize that pays Pro Bowl winners better than Super Bowl losers, the Pro Bowl was still filled with the kind of apathetic and sloppy play that fans have come to expect. At least the players were allowed to tweet from the sidelines, right? Riveting stuff.
What is infinitely better than watching the Pro Bowl? Seeing Marshawn Lynch get behind the counter at a Chick-Fil-A.
Matt Cassel saved a woman from a house fire over the weekend, although he was quick to downplay his actions (ringing the doorbell and saying “um, your house is on fire”) as not all that heroic. If you believe in fate, perhaps saving his neighbor from a fiery demise was the reason Cassel injured his hand this season, so that he wouldn’t be in Honolulu when the moment came to bravely ring a doorbell.
The Patriots left for Indianapolis yesterday, holding a pep rally with 25,000 fans before their departure. The most important story to come out of the rally wasn’t Brady’s non-guarantee of victory. It was Brandon Spikes’ amazing pink suit:

It seems like we’ve been a little light on Giants trash talk leading up to the Super Bowl, so here’s Mario Manningham on why he hopes Julian Edelman is forced to cover him. Can’t we do a little better than picking on Edelman, Giants?
Of course, the biggest story in Indianapolis this week isn’t the Super Bowl. It’s Peyton Manning. The latest reports are indicating that Manning is struggling to get healthy after his dozen exotic neck surgeries, making it all but a sure thing that Jim Irsay will cut him. Did Manning put off retiring just for the sake of proving Rob Lowe wrong?
Finally, if you feel like starting your week with a loss of faith in humanity, check out this $3.2 million dollar listing on Ebay for some Pat Tillman gear.
