Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for September 16, 2011

Yesterday, the NFL distributed a handy 17-page guide to its policy on fines and discipline. Shutdown Corner has a breakdown of the document, or you can check out all the bureaucratic vagaries for yourself. It has illustrations!

Considering the league’s history with the team, I’m sure the Pittsburgh Steelers received more than their fair share of rules manifestos, probably with a signed note from Roger Goodell. The Steelers, once iconoclastic rule flaunters, are now reduced to complaining about chop blocks after their humiliating defeat to the Ravens. Are the uncalled cheap shots part of an NFL conspiracy to punish its most vexing team? Ehh… Warren Sapp has another take.

Speaking of things that are old and washed up, check out this article on the rise and fall of the wildcat offense. Ah, RBs lining up in the shotgun and actually making a play, those were magical days. Time to bring back the flea-flicker.

Jerry Jones might want to hire the guys from Cold Hard Football Facts to be part of his PR team. The site has an in-depth look at whether or not Tony Romo is as much of a choke artist as the mainstream media makes him out (the answer might surprise you). Finally, Texas has a use for logic and statistics!

In case you were wondering: Brandon Marshall does not actually think Chad Henne is the white Michael Vick.

Isn’t there a better way to promote your upcoming documentary than by uglifying all the statues in a historic city? Why not just build an actual statue to The Hoodie? Not only would it forever cement the bond between Boston and their beloved coach, but it would serve as a sort of hobo scarecrow.

Where’s the Kickstarter campaign for these Tebow billboards? I want to donate! I heard at the $50 donation level, you ascend to heaven. I’ve got nothing better to do this weekend; might as well show John Fox how I feel and also secure the fate of my immortal soul.
