Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for November 11, 2011

It has been a banner year for NFL-related tribute songs. First, there was “The Niners Will Return (Harbaugh),” then “The Tebow Connection,” and now…

The entire player poll that named Runaround Suh the dirtiest player in the NFL is up over at The Sporting News. Other interesting details from the poll? Mike Tomlin and Rex Ryan are the most desirable coaches to play for, Tom Coughlin and Tony Sparano are the least desirable, and only half the league thinks Roger Goodell is doing a crap job.

The players surveyed said that Chris Johnson is having the NFL’s most disappointing season. The vote was a landslide, with Johnson receiving double the penciled-in frowny-faces of Donavon McNabb and Chad Ochocinco combined. Johnson is not without defenders, like DeAngelo Williams, who knows what it’s like to buckle under the weight of millions of dollars.

Interestingly, half of the top 10 players voted dirtiest by their colleagues are offensive lineman. In fact, including Hines Ward, there are more offensive players on that list than defensive ones. Maybe Justin Babin is right when he says its defenders that need protecting.

There’s no poll data out yet on which NFL players are most addicted to video games, but it seems like a good bet Torrey Smith should be highly ranked.

Ben Roethlisberger will be donating funds to a local Cincinnati police department so that they can purchase and train a police dog. It’s a nice thing Big Ben is doing, something that he’s actually done often in the past, and he should be commended for it. That said, here’s my joke: Roethlisberger’s only condition is that the police dog not be trained to sniff rohypnol. BOOM.

Finally, Fred Jackson will be returning home this weekend when the Buffalo Bills clash with the Dallas Cowboys. Literally. Cowboys Stadium is built on top of Jackson’s childhood home. Jackson seems pretty mellow about Jerry Jones probably smashing all his things with a wrecking ball while maniacally cackling, but hopefully he channels some long-festering rage and invokes imminent domain over the Cowboys this weekend.
