Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for May 18, 2012

Being immortalized on the cover of the latest Madden iteration is a pretty big off-season accomplishment, but it pales in comparison to having your incredibly elaborate joke TD dance captured in the game itself. Congratulations, Eli! You’re culturally relevant.
Maybe a more historic off-season activity would be a lawsuit targeting the military tribunal worthy evidence sharing policies of your commissioner. Suspended bounty hunter Jonathan Vilma filed a defamation lawsuit against Roger Goodell, dragging their battle out of the court of public opinion and into, well, the actual court. I have no idea who to root for here. Let’s just hope for a fair legal battle where nobody gets hurt.
Meanwhile, Drew Brees isn’t getting any closer to showing up with the Saints as his contract talks remain stalled. More likely: a successful Vilma lawsuit or an eight win Saints season?
Apparently not everyone is overjoyed by Chad Ochocinco’s off-season foray into the breaking news biz and his continued presence on Twitter. Some Patriots fans posit that it’ll be social media that gets Chad run out of New England… okay, it’s just one writer with an axe to grind. Why so made, dude? Let Chad buy you an iHop.
Breaking into the off-season reality show game that Ocho knows so well is Ndamukong Suh. The infamous Lions defender will star on an episode of The Choice, which you can get all the gritty details on here, along with some commentary on the kind of people Mike Tanier finds attractive (yay?).
Lucky for the internet, there’s no off-season for ranking things. Here’s the first part of The Big Lead’s ranking of NFL owners, although I have to question the logic of any ranking method that puts Ralph Wilson behind Bud Adams. Also, here’s an argument for why Ryan Mathews should be fantasy’s top drafted back this season.
Finally, if you’re tired of NFL news, why not check out TFG’s story on the demise and/or resurrection of the UFL? There’s even more UFL talk over at The Classical. The buzz is building, people! Purchase your shares in the Virginia Destroyers now!
