Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for March 9, 2012
By: Jeff Hart | Posted: March 09, 2012
As everyone that pays even a little attention to football knows, the biggest story of the offseason is which team will land WR Vincent Jackson. Rumors are coming in that free agent CB Cortland Finnegan has been recruiting Jackson to join him on some kind of super-team, the likely location being Tampa Bay. If you need help keeping track of all the potential landing spots for Jackson, Fantasy Knuckleheads have narrowed it down to a Top Five.
So, what else is going on?
The Rams still haven’t traded the second pick in the draft. With their asking price so steep it’s not all that surprising teams are taking their time at the negotiating table. Before they pull the trigger, St. Louis might want to take a look at this brief history of trade-downs. You don’t want to end up with David Boston and Andre Wadsworth.
Here’s a video that should probably be Exhibit A in the trial of Gregg Williams. It encapsulates the Bounty-licious scandal, pairing brutal hits with some cavalier talk radio quotes from Williams.
Ohhh, right! That guy nearly getting beheaded reminds me! Peyton Manning is a free agent, y’all. I wonder if anyone is talking about that…
Manning’s server at the Angus Barn Steakhouse certainly is. He posted an image of the $200 tip Manning dropped on him, and was subsequently fired. At least the server didn’t mention that Peyton’s $700 bill was the result of dinner for one. Some lucky franchise will soon find out the frighteningly vast quantities of animal flesh Manning needs to consume in order to feed the extra-dimensional parasites holding together his neck.
That franchise is probably going to be the Miami Dolphins. At least, if former super-friend and current free agent Reggie Wayne has his way. He got all excited on the radio yesterday, imagining a reunion with Manning. Even Lebron James got in on the action, shouting out Peyton in predictably child-brained fashion during a post-game interview.
And then there are the 31 other teams that Manning should sign for. Deadspin has an encyclopedic round-up of all the whys, pretty much doing my job for me.
