Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for March 30, 2012

The Football Girl talked about it yesterday, but I wanted to hit you guys with the extended NFL players diaper commercial, because it’s way more ridiculous than the 30-second spot.
To answer Melissa’s question: endorsing Depends is definitely worse than endorsing Uggs. Although, I wouldn’t really call this an endorsement – check out Welker’s stymied attempt to work in a personal story about prostate cancer. The whole piece is incredibly awkward and tone deaf (I also have my doubts about them actually wearing the diapers!) all to sell a product that’s only useful to… um marathon runners? It all seems gross to me, on multiple levels, but I guess any donations to cancer research should be acknowledged as a positive.
Herm Edwards has accused the Saints of making a mockery of the Rooney Rule (the mandated minority interview) with their aggressive pursuit of Bill Parcells. From one controversy to the next, right New Orleans?
Donavon McNabb had some unkind things to say about Mike Shanahan, the Redskins offense, and the likelihood of RG3 having success there (low). He also introduced Campbell’s new Sour Grapes soup, with meaty chunks of residual bitterness.
The upcoming season’s rule changes are officially on the books. The big focus appears to be on pre-snap QB and Center shenanigans. Peyton Manning’s going to come back to an NFL he doesn’t even recognize.
Here’s a proposed rule change for the New York Jets: go for two after every touchdown. With Tebow on the squad, is there really any reason to kick extra points? In fact, analyzing those statistics The Big Lead cites, is there ever any reason to kick an extra point except at the end of games?
A death row inmate shouted “Go Cowboys!” after receiving his lethal injection. I’m surprised it has taken this long for Texas’ two biggest passions to come together.
And finally, undoubtedly saving the best for last, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at that Marshawn Lynch movie we’re all breathlessly anticipating:
