Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for March 23, 2012
By: Jeff Hart | Posted: March 23, 2012
Let’s begin with the two stories that have dominated this week’s news cycle. First, The Classical brings us an analysis of the Saints Bountypalooza punishment that amounts to a resigned shrug. Stern as these punishments appear on paper, argues The Classical’s Star, they won’t really hurt the Saints. Some well-reasoned cynicism – perfect for Friday morning, right?
And just so we’re clear, Jeremy Shockey is not a snitch. He would never do anything so morally responsible or courageous, no matter what Warren Sapp might tell you. Sidenote: can we tack another year on Sean Payton’s suspension for excessive abuse of the exclamation point?
The second big story this week has been Tim Tebow’s move to the Big Apple. It pretty much assures another year of salivating Tebow coverage (although, hopefully less centaur tattoos), this time by the unforgiving New York media. In case you missed a moment of the all-important middle round pick for back-up QB transaction-of-the-year, here are the Taiwanese animators to catch you up.
Oh, by the way, not all Jets fans are excited by Tebow’s arrival. Especially not those who have written best-selling fantasy epics. Let’s hope Tebow’s time with the Jets doesn’t result in Mark Sanchez shooting him with a crossbow while he’s on the toilet.
Anyway, believe it or not, there are other NFL stories worth noting! Like how a subtle power shift in the AFC South has one writer calling the division for the Jaguars. Like I said: believe it or not.
When the Eagles parted ways with Vince Young, I was sad that we’d be retiring the “Dream Team” moniker he saddled the team with last season. Luckily, Lesean McCoy didn’t read Andy Reid’s memo about overconfidence. The Dream Team is back!
Finally, what better way to kick off the weekend than with a Stevie Johnson rap song? Here is the Bills wide receiver hitting the studio with Game for a track about making love that also namedrops Devin Hester. Enjoy.
