Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for January 27, 2011

I thought I was done making light of Billy Cundiff’s AFC Championship losing miss, but then I came across this demo real for a Russian football kicker. The thing is, when kicking off the tee like he does, you don’t have to worry about the laces being out.

Just to wrap up a week of scapegoat coverage, here’s a story on Kyle Williams receiving an encouraging letter from a seven year-old. Doesn’t that just warm your heart? I like to imagine Williams reading the mail while standing on his kitchen table, then slowly removing his head from the noose tied to his ceiling fan. That’s how adorable and life-affirming that letter is!

Let’s get the boring (read: professional, good-natured) QB story out of the way first: Aaron Rodgers predicts that his understudy Matt Flynn will be headed to Miami or Seattle. Yawn. Onto the juicy stuff!

In Indianapolis, it looks like Peyton Manning was right when he called the Colts facility a bad place for healing. I’m assuming he meant emotional healing, because that Jim Irsay is being a real jerk. The normally mellow owner called Manning “a politician” and said the franchise quarterback should’ve kept his feelings in-house. Now, rumors are circulating that Manning is almost certainly done for in Indianapolis.

The Colts will likely pin their hopes entirely to Andrew Luck. Here’s an interesting read on why Luck has delegated the huge responsibility of representing him – the first overall pick to be drafted under the new CBA – to his inexperienced uncle, and why it might be a good idea.

Pro Bowl participant Ben Roethlisberger has declared that as soon as he’s back from Hawaii, leaving behind a blurry weekend of poolside drinks and inappropriate touching, he’s going to storm into Art Rooney’s office and demand answers regarding the firing of Bruce Arians. Will this give us a second great owner/quarterback feud this off-season? We can only hope.
