Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for January 13, 2011

GOOD VS. EVIL: THE SEQUEL, DAY V: Well, it’s been an exhausting week covering all the drama building for Saturday night’s epic confrontation. (If you missed any Tebow/Brady build-up, you can find an exhaustive comparison of the two QBs here.) It’s been so exhausting, in fact, that I’m now reduced to linking parody rap videos and articles on whether or not Josh McDaniels is a genius just to keep desperately driving content. Let’s get this blow out started, already!

Unlike Brady and Tebow, Joe Flacco hasn’t been getting a whole lot of attention this week. Apparently, Flacco is feeling a bit sour about his role as a younger Trent Dilfer. The league will always need game managers, Joe. Just ask the entire NFC West.

Speaking of which, the NFC West is where many are speculating Peyton Manning could end up if he is released from the Colts. It seems like madness that the Colts would get rid of Manning unless his neck was still an issue, in which case it seems like the veteran QB would be better off retiring than playing for the – *shudder* – Rams.

If the Packers manage to repeat as champions this year, is there any chance that Jordy Nelson’s farm becomes the new Peyton Manning’s ranch? Also, someone please look into the science behind artificially inseminating cows being good for catching skills. I bet there’s something to that.

Another intriguing story to keep an eye on in the coming off-season is the Detroit Lions. The team is entering their first off-season in, well, forever, where they’re looking to retain talent rather than rebuild it. Wouldn’t it be fun if they asked this guy for advice?

Finally, new Jaguars owner Shad Khan apparently offended some Floridians when he claimed that only season tickets holders are true Jags fans. Khan’s statement goes to prove a theory I’ve been advancing all season: there is no such thing as Jacksonville fans.
