Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for December 30, 2011

The big question this morning might be: “Andrew Luck who?”

Okay, so maybe Robert Griffin III didn’t do enough to supplant Luck as the consensus #1 pick, but you have to figure he’s moving fast up the mock draft boards. It’s too bad Matt Barkley opted to stay in school or we could potentially have one of the best QB draft classes in history.

Where can I score an Allen Wranglers jersey? I have a feeling that apparel for the Indoor Football League squad is going to become highly valued ironic merchandise once Terrell Owens signs up. Can’t wait for the start of the IFL season!

Roger Goodell’s plant in the FOX Sports family, Mike Pereira, has returned with a hit-piece on Jon Gruden, one that Shutdown Corner has thankfully already picked apart. As usual, Pereira proves to be an enemy of logical officiating, reasoned discussions, and intelligent writing. Maybe he should consider phrasing his grievances with Gruden in the third person.

Peyton Hillis now believes in the Madden Curse. Those who have followed Hillis’ season closely, both on and off the field, now believe in The Douchebag Curse.

Could there be a more appropriate end to the Broncos regular season than a match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs led by spurned QB Kyle Orton? I’m having a hard time deciding what I’d rather see: Orton get his revenge on Tebow, or the mob scene that will result from a Denver home playoff game. If Tebow does lose to Orton, we’re in for an entire off-season of “is Tebow the guy?” speculation. Just to spare us that horrible fate, I’m pulling for the Broncos.

Finally, here’s a short and odd “think piece” about the concussion epidemic. I love when arguments about player health and race are supported by references to Rudy.
