Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for December 23, 2011

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’ve really been cutting back my time spent talking about Tim Tebow this week. However, we’re only two days away from Christmas, which I’ve recently learned isn’t necessarily all about presents but actually marks the birth of Christ or something. Because we’re nearing Tebow’s favorite day of the year, it’s only appropriate to give him some link attention. First, there’s the inevitable blustery fall-out from Tebow super-fan Pat Robertson over the recent SNL sketch that gently mocked the QB. Second, there’s this completely true story about the Nuggets signing Tebow to play point guard. Happy birthday, Jesus!

I received this in the mail yesterday along with a pair of light blue Wranglers:

What do NFL teams want for Christmas this year? The Footbawl Blog decides to play Santa. Although, saying multiple teams would want a time machine seems a little obvious. Wouldn’t EVERYONE want a time machine?

The Colts received an early Christmas present last night with an upset victory over the Texans. Well, the sentimental players with expiring contracts that wanted one last home win got a present. Those Colts fans hoping the team drafts Andrew Luck may have just gotten a lump of coal. Or did they?

You know who isn’t in the Christmas spirit? The Jets and the Giants. Trash-talking continues between these two squads, with Santonio Holmes mocking the Giants secondary and Antonio Cromartie ripping Mario Manningham for losing his starting job. Can’t we just be nice, guys? It’s the holidays!

Just like Santa (and writers all over the internet) this is the perfect time of year to make a list. Here are two good ones: a list of iconic players that need to ask Santa for the fountain of youth and the naughty-and-nice of this year’s NFL contracts. Have a merry one!
