Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for December 16, 2011

GOOD VS EVIL, Day V:  We are now a mere two days away from the most apocalyptic confrontation of the NFL season. After remaining quiet for most of the week, Evil Incarnate finally pushed back his hood to speak with the media, telling the terrified press corps that the Patriots are having a difficult time simulating Tebow in practice. Don’t believe his lies, Tebow.

On a related note, yesterday I referred to Patriots WR Julian Edelman as a “dance floor groper.” Turns out that’s not true, and Edelman has been cleared of all wrong-doing. My bad, dude. Edelman’s status has been hereby downgraded to “dance floor hand-holder.” Aww.

Speaking of getting arrested, does anyone know where I can buy some Mexican cell phones? No reason, really. Just heard they’re really good. Anyone else suddenly feel like watching The Wire?

Speaking of Baltimore, did you know a CFL team briefly set up shop there? Now you do.

When asked about the Sam Hurd drug bust yesterday, Cowboys NT Jay Ratliff nearly got into a physical confrontation with a beat reporter. My guess is there are a whole lot of guys in both the Cowboys and Bears locker rooms really sweating right now.

The polar opposite of the positive energy that got Tim Tebow his starting job is happening in Miami right now, where fans are hiring an airplane to fly over the stadium with a sign asking Dolphins brass to fire GM Jeff Ireland. As the Dolphins make most personnel decisions based on sky-writing, the stunt is expected to have a great effect.

According to a Sports Illustrated poll, the least popular NFL announcer amongst players is Cris Collinsworth. The results are skewed toward primetime announcers and ESPN personalities, because obviously the players aren’t watching the Sunday afternoon games like the rest of us. At least that’s how I justify Joe Buck not making this list.

Finally, would you rather join the active roster of the 2-11 Minnesota Vikings, or stick it out on the undefeated Packers practice squad? Rookie WR Tori Gurley has the answer
