Jeff Hart: Friday Linkfest for April 20, 2012

So, Donovan McNabb believes he belongs in The Hall of Fame. Uh huh. Perhaps he’ll find a home in the new wing Canton intends to construct for the inevitable induction of Joe Flacco. Here are some career highlights for any voters that might be on the fence about McNabb:

Unlike fellow turn of the century star McNabb, Warren Sapp is a realist. The beleaguered former DT added Jeremy Shockey to a list of potential creditors on his bankruptcy filing, fearing a libel lawsuit from the no-snitching TE. If it happens, it might be the first time a libel suit was ever brought because someone was wrongfully accused of doing a good thing.

An anonymous scout had some mean things to say about Robert Griffin III, specifically that the rookie QB has a “selfish streak” and “doesn’t treat anybody good.” Is the media under-reporting Griffin’s flaws because of how badly Cam Newton burned them last year? Or, in an age where pretty much everyone has access to game footage and character insight (Twitter), are we just realizing that the opinions of cigar-chomping old men don’t count for much anymore?

Anyway, hopefully there’s money around to pay Griffin and the rest of the rookies, because apparently the rookie pool is underfunded. I’m sure the NFL could scrape a few bucks together somewhere.

I couldn’t believe ESPN devoted three hours to the schedule unveiling on Tuesday (I guess there weren’t any other sports stories happening). Is the ordering of information that we’ve already had for months really that newsworthy? That said, the rest of today’s links will be schedule related! Like this New York Times profile on the team that crafts the schedule. Maybe we should give these guys their own Hard Knocks?

Cold Hard Football Facts has the beginning of a two-part study on the effects of travel games. Apparently, there’s something to all that west coast body clock stuff.

And most importantly, here’s exactly when on the schedule Randy Moss will quit on the 49ers. Now that’s insight!
