Week 5 Injury Report

By: Kim O'Hara | Posted: October 05, 2012

Read below to find out where your favorite teams or players stand:

Sadly for the Jacksonville offense, it looks like defensive end Julius Peppers will take the field Sunday. He’s been upgraded to probable after sitting out Thursday’s practice with an ankle injury.

If BenJarvus Green-Ellis’s issues with ball security continue Sunday, it looks like backup Bernard Scott will be available after recovering from an ankle injury. He participated in practice this week and is considered probable

Just ten days after a brutal shot to the head that resulted in his own family asking him to walk away from football, returner/receiver Josh Cribbs is listed as probable against the Giants.

Wide receiver Greg Jennings experienced a relapse with his groin injury. He is out for Sunday and plans to rest and rehab long enough to avoid any further relapses, so this may not be the only week he misses.

Running back Ben Tate is listed as questionable as he deals with a toe injury. He should participate in Saturday’s practice to get a better idea where he stands for Monday night’s game.

Receiver Laurent Robinson will be held out of Sunday’s game against Chicago as he recovers from a concussion.

Running back Peyton Hillis is out with an ankle injury. Jamaal Charles has been doing okay in his absence, doing excellent things with the football (as long as he holds onto it).

Tight end Aaron Hernandez returned to practice after hurting his ankle in Week 2, and running back Brandon Bolden is tending to a knee injury. Tight end Rob Gronkowski missed Wednesday's practice but returned for Thursday and Friday. All three are listed as questionable for Sunday.

Quarterback Drew Brees will have two fewer targets as he chases history Sunday. Receivers Lance Moore and Joe Morgan are both out this week, dealing with hamstring and knee injuries, respectively.

Wide receivers Ramses Barden (concussion), Hakeem Nicks (knee) and safety Kenny Philips (knee) have all been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Cleveland. With Barden sidelined and Nicks missing his third straight game, quarterback Eli Manning will depend on Victor Cruz, Domenik Hixon and rookie Reuben Randle as his receiving corps.

Including the loss of Santonio Holmes for the season to an ankle injury, quarterback Mark Sanchez may be down three targets on Monday night, as neither tight end Dustin Keller nor receiver Stephen Hill practiced this week. Both are suffering from hamstring injuries and listed as questionable

For the first time this season, linebacker James Harrison (knee), safety Troy Polamalu (calf) and running back Rashard Mendenhall (ACL reconstruction) should take the field against Philadelphia. All three are listed as probable

Kicker Nate Kaeding’s groin injury continues to cause problems. Kaeding insists he’ll kick again this season, he is listed as doubtful for Sunday night’s game. Nick Novak was a serviceable replacement last week, hitting all three field goal attempts against Kansas City.

Running back Brandon Jacobs proclaimed that he would make his Niners debut this Sunday, and it’s looking like he’ll make good on his promise. He’s currently listed as probable after battling a knee injury.

Receiver Kenny Britt’s ankle has not fully healed, even after sitting out of practice this week. He’s listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at Minnesota.
