TFG Giveaway: Enter to Win Drew Brees Commemorative Eye Black
By: Kim O'Hara | Posted: October 11, 2012
In the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers, Drew Brees surpassed legendary quarterback Johnny Unitas for most consecutive games with a touchdown pass. A forty yard scoring pass to receiver Devery Henderson in the first quarter marked the 48th straight game Brees has thrown for a touchdown.
A milestone such as this deserves to be commemorated in a meaningful way, and the team at Farkas Eye Black came up with a terrific approach. Farkas is a leading eye black provider named for “Anvil” Andy Farkas, a fullback on the Washington Redskin’s 1942 Super Bowl championship team and first NFL player to don sticky black streaks below his eyes. His grandson, Brian Farkas, developed an eye black in Anvil’s name to honor his grandfather’s famous facial accessories and to provide today’s athletes with an advanced eye black. According to Farkas. its formula is proven to reduce glare on the field, while the act of streaking it on before a game hearkens back to applying war paint in preparation for battle. In both these ways, Farkas has found applied eye black is superior to stickers and strips often used by athletes.

You may have noticed, as Farkas Eye Black did, that Drew Brees is one of many athletes to apply streaks of eye black prior to each game. To honor Brees’ record-breaking, eye black-sporting performance, Farkas sent him a letter recognizing his accomplishment as well as several tins of the product engraved with Brees’ name and the date of game 48, October 7, 2012. To further celebrate the occasion, Farkas will be giving away additional tins with the same commemorative engraving.
That’s where you come in! TheFootballGirl.com has partnered with Farkas to send one lucky reader a replic tin of Farkas Eye Black, also engraved with Drew Brees' name and Ocotber 7, 2012.
To submit yourself for consideration, simply “like” TheFootballGirl.com’s Facebook page and comment with your guess of how many total yards Drew Brees will account for in Week 7 against Tampa Bay. The winner will be the first person to submit the closest yardage without going over. Please submit your entry before Friday, October 19. One submission per person will be accepted.
