Carlos Rogers Loves Victor Cruz's Salsa Dance

By: Kim O'Hara | Posted: October 10, 2012

Another week in the NFL, another mini-conflict between opponents. Last week it was candy bars, this week it's smooth dance moves. Victor Cruz's famed smooth dance moves, that is. When Cruz's Giants met cornerback Carlos Rogers and the 49ers in the regular season last year, Rogers intercepted a pass in front of Cruz and proceeded to imitate his iconic salsa dance.

Cruz didn't take the slight lightly, going so far as to describe the incident in a book he released this summer, Out of the Blue

"Then with his teammates cheering him on, he did a sarcastic salsa dance over me. The Candlestick Park crowd went ballistic, but I wasn't laughing. It was a sign of disrespect. Instead of getting up and retaliating, though, I sat and watched Rogers finish his cheap Victor Cruz imitation. I promised to never forget it. I wasn't sure when the opportunity would present itself but I was confident I'd get payback for that dance."

Cruz managed a measure of revenge in the 2011 NFC Championship game with 142 yards receiving and, of course, a Super Bowl victory, but Rogers isn't afraid to salsa again this weekend.

"I like the dance, actually. I really can't do it as good as him but if I make a play or get an interception on him in my mind, just do his dance."

As with all back-and-forth wars of words like this, the Cruz-Rogers rivalry will have to be settled on the field this Sunday. Luckily for us, it should involve some heated hip action.

Who's moves will make headlines this Sunday?
