Miami Dolphins Set to Participate in 'Hard Knocks'

Just about two seconds after I published our Hard Knocksability piece speculating on the best fit for “Hard Knocks,” the Miami Dolphins were announced as this year’s team.
Immediate reaction is lukewarm. New head coach Joe Philbin certainly has the most compelling story, as he still mourns the loss of his son, Michael, who fell and drowned in a Wisconsin river in January.
While everything pales in comparison to the Philbin storyline, you still have a some interesting characters, most notably LB Karlos Dansby who recently declared that the Dolphins would “win the AFC. Period.” But if the NFL has its say, we’ll probably be treated to a lot of rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill and his wife. Hopefully a rookie free agent or injury-plagued veteran sneaks in there as well.
The Dolphins were not the most obvious choice for the “Hard Knocks” but their motivation for participating makes sense. They are in the AFC East, perennially overshadowed by at least half their division. And they hail from a non-sports town sports town and, quite frankly, could use any infusion of buzz.
Also, ten other teams said no.
