NFL Training Camp Roundup for August 9th

Buffalo Bills

QB Vince Young, once thought by many to be a future NFL superstar, is in a battle with Tyler Thigpen for the Bills backup job. And if Young loses out to Thigpen he will be cut, as the Bills are reportedly only keeping two quarterbacks on the roster.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns unquestionably had the worst day of any team yesterday.  RB Trent Richardson left to go have Dr. James Andrews examine his ailing left knee, a sign of a more serious underlying problem.  And the NFL informed CB Joe Haden that he had tested positive for Adderall, a banned substance, and could be facing suspension. Both are impact players for the team and the loss of either would be a serious blow.

Houston Texans

LB Brian Cushing remained in the hospital yesterday left after falling ill at practice Tuesday with a “minor virus.” Head coach Gary Kubiak says he has no concerns and hopes Cushing will return to practice today.

Miami Dolphins

WR Chad Johnson made a devastating announcement yesterday – “I don’t do media anymore,” he said.  Anyone who watched “Hard Knocks” knows head coach Joe Philbin was unhappy with Johnson’ profanity-laden press conference.  But hopefully Philbin lightens up and remembers why they signed him in the first place.

Minnesota Vikings

RB Adrian Peterson has yet to practice and thus has not absorbed any pressure on his surgically repaired left knee.  However, Peterson said he’s “ready to get hit,” and the Vikings remain confident he will be ready by their September 9th season opener.

San Francisco 49ers

WR Kyle Williams had a bad day yesterday. The wide receiver began practice by dropping two Alex Smith passes, and later was expelled by Jim Harbaugh after getting into a fight with rookie CB Deante’ Purvis.  Then again, it probably seemed like nothing compared to his famous NFC Championship gaffe.
