Detroit Lions
The Lions have struggled mightily on special teams this preseason so that went out and did something about it, signing 3-time Pro Bowler Kassim Osgood.
Houston Texans
Another day of practice. Another season-ending injury. This time it was reserve DT Ra’Shon Harris, who suffered a torn right tricep.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Maurice Jones-Drew saga continues as the running back has asked to be traded after comments by new owner Shad Khan. Khan said the MJD situation doesn’t “move the needle” in terms of stress, among other comments. It is very unlikely Jones’s demands will be met; however the holdout could extend a little longer than anticipated.
New Orleans Saints
RB Darren Sproles hasn’t played a down since injuring his knee in the August 9th game against the Patriots. The team is being cautious and doesn’t plan to play Sproles until Week 1 of the regular season, but that doesn’t mean the back couldn’t play now. “If I had to play, I could,” Sproles told the Times-Picayune.
St. Louis Rams
The Rams signed veteran DE Vernon Gholston yesterday. Gholston was the sixth overall pick in the 2008 draft but has been a bust thus far.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
New TE Dallas Clark expects to see more playing time when the Bucs face the Patriots on Friday night. Clark, who is replacing Kellen Winslow, has had limited game action because the team has been protecting the oft-injured tight end.
