Myles Garrett has been Cleveland’s assumed no. 1 overall pick for weeks. But then all-around talent Mitchell Trubusky who happens to play a position Cleveland desperately needs emerged to potentially supplant him. Or maybe the Browns snag both. A month ago Trubisky was hardly considered the top QB in this draft; that honor went to Deshaun Watson. The point is we really have absolutely idea what will happen when Roger Goodell starts announcing the future come 8PM ET. So instead of boggling our minds in anticipation, let’s focus on an area with far more certainty and much less variation:…

Welcome to a special “NFL Draft” rendition of “Positively Gruden,” where we chronicle the top praise, plaudits, and pontifications from America’s favorite fawning former coach. With the NFL season over four months away, this is time of year for optimism, filled with dreams of “upside potential,” before the stark reality of actual games brings down to earth anyone who isn’t a Patriots fan. And what better minstrel of these natural good vibes than the famed Simpsons monorail salesman himself, Jon Gruden. Gruden has been doing his “QB Camp” for several years now, but this is the first one that…

Breaking news! Exclusive! OMG! It’s almost here! The NFL will release its regular season schedule on NFL Network Thursday at 8 PM ET as part of an aptly named two-hour special, 2017 NFL Schedule Release. That’s right, TWO hours. Does anything underscore the stronghold the NFL holds over our psyches more than the ridiculousness of the schedule release? Two hours to analyze something we could have done in February. Teams already learned their home and away games for 2017 way back on January 2nd. And they knew most opponents long before that. The Raiders may be relegated to playing in…

Marshawn Lynch has begun the process of reinstatement, reports ESPN’s Ed Werder. Rumors have swirled for weeks that Lynch is interested in a return to the NFL, specifically to play for his hometown Oakland Raiders. Werder does report that Lynch could follow Richard Sherman if the corner is traded to a new team. As noted earlier this week, Lynch to the Raiders or any team for that matter would require multiple hoops as Seattle still owns his rights. Regardless, news of his possible return has us feeling like… via GIPHY

Welcome to Melissa’s Monday Musings, one of several regular columns from TFG 1.0 that we’re migrating to TFG 2.0. More on the column and a progress report on the site in a bit but first a lesson from a Masters for the ages. In 1997 Tiger Woods absolutely crushed Augusta, winning the Masters by 12 strokes and forever altered both golf’s aesthetic and its preconceived lack of athleticism. Golf became cool to a younger generation and Woods’s mere presence caused television ratings to soar. Even potential challengers to Woods like British phenom Justin Rose, who turned pro in 1998 or…

The waiting game is over. Tony Romo is retiring and pivoting to broadcasting, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Todd Archer. The blockbuster news comes one day after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones put the message out that teams were free to communicate with or work out Romo in hopes of facilitating a trade. No team took the bait. The winding down of Romo’s career was accelerated when he broke his back in a preseason game against Seattle last season. Rookie Dak Prescott proved a worthy starter in his own right, and the future became the present in an…

“Good times, no tan lines. Let the sea set you free” – @tony2coats A post shared by Kristin Cavallari (@kristincavallari) on Mar 28, 2017 at 8:55am PDT Jay Cutler was back in the news today after his wife, Kristin Cavallari, posted a naked picture of the free agent quarterback. Now that we’ve seen a new side of Cutler, let’s backtrack for an update on his day job. Cutler, who has long toggled between exposing his assets on the field and being the butt of many jokes, has possibly reached rock bottom. Chicago couldn’t bare another year of Cutler, releasing…

On Monday afternoon, two hours after NFL owners voted to allow the Oakland Raiders to become the Las Vegas Raiders, super fan Dr. Death was reborn as his human alter-ego, Ray Perez of West Sacramento. A diehard season ticket holder, regular force in the raucous Black Hole since 2009, and staple at city council meetings focused on keeping the Raiders in Oakland, Perez tearfully denounced his support for the fleeing franchise during a live video. Q https://t.co/vp5PuC8Kgt — Dr.Death (@26DrDeath) March 27, 2017 “This isn’t just a football team leaving us, this is a culture and identity,” Perez said. “In…

Almost four years ago, rising prodigal quarterback Colin Kaepernick politely attempted to clear up some confusion about his nickname. PSA: Just for clarity it’s Kap not Kaep — Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7) September 7, 2013 Fast forward to the present and except for the 49ers’ fanbase and the Bay Area media, most in the football zeitgeist, including wildly respected journalists, still refer to the free agent as “Kaep.” While hardly an egregious gaffe‑-after all Kaep is the far more logical nickname–it is a microcosm of his reality. When it comes to Kaepernick, facts don’t really matter. From a racist column about…

For sports fans, internet connoisseurs, or basically anyone with a pulse, it’s nearly impossible to navigate the world wide interwebs without running into a protruding feature on the WAGS (wives and girlfriends) of professional athletes. Here at TFG we try to be an equal opportunity promoter of significant others. So we couldn’t help but wonder, what about the HABs? You know, the Husbands and Boyfriends. They deserve some cyber exploitation too, right? And if our female audience can dine on a nice cut of meat, well that’s not such a bad thing either. Last week, in our inaugural edition, we…
