The NFL grew tired of its No Fun League moniker so the competition committee announced today that it is relaxing select celebration rules as it aims to become a Nearing Fun League. Commissioner Roger Goodell, in a letter to fans, announced the following celebrations are now legal: Using a football as a prop after a touchdown via GIPHY Celebrating on the ground after a touchdown via GIPHY Group demonstrations via GIPHY “We know that you love the spontaneous displays of emotion that come after a spectacular touchdown. Balancing the scales of gender inequality one pound of manly flesh at a time… Today’s DCOM is Ryan Fitzpatrick, a delicious combination of brains and brawn.  And oh, that beard. Like a well-manicured arboretum, that beard says I’m here to party but keeping it to two drinks because I gotta get home and finish building that distressed wood table. No wonder Fitz got picked up by Tampa Bay, over the likes of Colin Kaepernick, despite having a 12 to 17 TD-to-interception ratio and a league-low 69.6 passer rating last year. Now that Fitz has traded the gloomy confines of New York for…

Beth Mowins set her career goal at a very young age. Raised in Syracuse, New York in the 1970’s. she was enthralled with all sports, including the NFL. Though she lacked allegiance to a particular NFL team –- the area was split between the downtrodden Bills, Jets and Giants — the NFL on television was blossoming into its own art form. Especially pre- and post-game shows. The Cowboys and Steelers were in the midst of dynasties, and the league as a whole produced more awe-inspiring moments, players and schemes. The NFL Today on CBS reigned king in those days with…

Tom Brady recently suggested he would play until 45 assuming his body stays in tact. Well, his other half Gisele may have put a damper in those plans when she told CBS This Morning that Brady had suffered a concussion last year. #NEW: @giseleofficial told @CharlieRose on @CBSThisMorning that Tom Brady had a concussion last year. “He does have concussions.” pic.twitter.com/K4B8ixDN9X — CBS This Morning (@CBSThisMorning) May 17, 2017 According to Gisele, concussions are commonplace for Brady. “He has concussions every…I mean, we don’t talk about them, but he does have concussions, “ she told Charlie Rose. In 2014, University of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon punched a woman named Amelia Molitor in a Norman deli, breaking bones in her face. The punch was recorded by surveillance cameras and has been seen by millions of people. Mixon and Molitor later reached a settlement. Mixon had just turned 18, and the video showed Molitor confronting Mixon and making physical contact with him just before the punch. But to use either youthful indiscretion or self-defense to excuse what Mixon did would be absurd. Nor should it be written off as “one bad moment.” If Mark David Chapman hadn’t…

Myles Garrett has been Cleveland’s assumed no. 1 overall pick for weeks. But then all-around talent Mitchell Trubusky who happens to play a position Cleveland desperately needs emerged to potentially supplant him. Or maybe the Browns snag both. A month ago Trubisky was hardly considered the top QB in this draft; that honor went to Deshaun Watson. The point is we really have absolutely idea what will happen when Roger Goodell starts announcing the future come 8PM ET. So instead of boggling our minds in anticipation, let’s focus on an area with far more certainty and much less variation:…

Welcome to a special “NFL Draft” rendition of “Positively Gruden,” where we chronicle the top praise, plaudits, and pontifications from America’s favorite fawning former coach. With the NFL season over four months away, this is time of year for optimism, filled with dreams of “upside potential,” before the stark reality of actual games brings down to earth anyone who isn’t a Patriots fan. And what better minstrel of these natural good vibes than the famed Simpsons monorail salesman himself, Jon Gruden. Gruden has been doing his “QB Camp” for several years now, but this is the first one that…

Breaking news! Exclusive! OMG! It’s almost here! The NFL will release its regular season schedule on NFL Network Thursday at 8 PM ET as part of an aptly named two-hour special, 2017 NFL Schedule Release. That’s right, TWO hours. Does anything underscore the stronghold the NFL holds over our psyches more than the ridiculousness of the schedule release? Two hours to analyze something we could have done in February. Teams already learned their home and away games for 2017 way back on January 2nd. And they knew most opponents long before that. The Raiders may be relegated to playing in…

Marshawn Lynch has begun the process of reinstatement, reports ESPN’s Ed Werder. Rumors have swirled for weeks that Lynch is interested in a return to the NFL, specifically to play for his hometown Oakland Raiders. Werder does report that Lynch could follow Richard Sherman if the corner is traded to a new team. As noted earlier this week, Lynch to the Raiders or any team for that matter would require multiple hoops as Seattle still owns his rights. Regardless, news of his possible return has us feeling like… via GIPHY
