When it comes to fantasy, underrated and sleeper may sound synonymous. They’re not. A sleeper is a player you throw a dart at – an injury handcuff, an emerging talent with a shot in the dark, someone debatable to draft at all, even in the fifteenth round. An undervalued player will, for starters, be on the field. They inherently add value, but more than their current average draft position (ADP ) would suggest. Here are ten examples heading in to the 2014 season: Jeremy Maclin (WR25, 5.12):  If you average Maclin’s consistent numbers the three seasons before his ACL injury…

What have we learned so far this offseason? Well, Darren Sharper appears to be much more of a predator in the bedroom than he ever was in an NFL secondary. Jameis Winston apparently did no wrong in the eyes of Florida State law enforcement, despite the fact that they finally charged two of his buddies over that alleged rape back in December 2012. And Ray Rice … he’s in love. Sadly, abuse of women is nothing new in the NFL. And although it’s not a problem unique to pro football players — or athletes in general — the media megaphone…

To help you have your most successful draft yet, we have partnered with the good folks at Fantasy Pros and are pleased to introduce you to their phenomenal Draft Wizard. This free service allows you to mock in minutes – literally. You make a pick and then the wizard automatically fills in the other “teams” by using a consensus of expert analysis.  So you’re always up! In addition to basic drafting there is an assistant to help you rationalize your picks, an easy-to-use cheat sheet creator and, perhaps the most useful tool, a draft analyzer.  Yes, you will have an…

Have you ever seen shots of the mega intersection in Shibuya, Japan, the famous one which features eight ways to cross the street and eight million people crossing it? Fantasy football is kind of like that intersection, crowded with people briskly navigating their way through a malaise. There are so many paths to choose — in the case of fantasy, it’s league formats, analysts, lineup decisions — yet so many lead you to the same destination, your own gut. I have covered fantasy football for our site for the past three years, and quite frankly, it’s been awfully lonely. Traditionally,…

By this time next week most fantasy owners will either be wallowing in their sorrows of narrow defeat or enjoying the bragging rights (and hopefully, lots of cash) that come with a fantasy championship. Before the two sides diverge, though,  there seems no more appropriate time then now to celebrate the fantasy players who got them to this point – the biggest fantasy surprises. It is these diamonds in the rough, and having the savviness to use them properly, that, year after year, is one of fantasy football’s greatest pleasures. Here are our picks for 2012: 10) Alfred Morris, Redskins…

Too often perspective is lost in the NFL.  This is particularly true when it comes to fantasy football, a pastime that steers us through a series of perceived emotional attachments, followed by subsequent heartless detachments on a weekly basis. (In other words, fantasy football is just a geeky version of being an alcoholic man-whore.) Some of you elated to still be alive in your playoff types may be wondering why I am choosing now to single out the season’s biggest disappointments. It’s because most people are not you and have already been eliminated. They may be bitter and lonesome and…

Updated: 9-3-2011 Quarterback fantasyland is set up to be full of scoring treats this season.  That’s because the NFL’s most electrifying player (by a mile, in my opinion) is a quarterback, and there are several veterans manning high-scoring passing factories.  With so much depth, your team’s leading scorer could easily be any of the top ten quarterback’s listed below. 1)   Michael Vick, Eagles 2)   Aaron Rodgers, Packers 3)   Tom Brady, Patriots 4)   Drew Brees, Saints 5)   Tony Romo, Cowboys 6)   Peyton Manning, Colts 7)   Philip Rivers, Chargers 8)   Matt Ryan, Falcons 9)   Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers 10)  Matt Schaub, Texans 11)…

Updated: 9-6-2011 NFL tight ends confuse me.  Sometimes I think there’s a ton of depth because there are so many plays designed for the position across the board these days.  On the other hand, I think there are only a handful of guys that are be real superstars in this league. This season is really up in the air with so many moving buttocks. Can someone please explain to me why Jeremy Shockey AND Greg Olsen are both Panthers? Plus, it’s still unclear whether Aaron Hernandez or Rob Gronkowski will bring more fantasy value in 2011.  While I’m likely not…

Updated: 9-5-2011 Draft season is just about over.  But if your draft is still to come, you’re in luck.  With the news of Peyton Manning’s doubtful status this week (and possibly beyond), you get to make better draft decisions that actually correlate with the current NFL landscape.  Let me scream it for the millionth time: DO NOT buy fantasy football magazines. Here’s my list of the Top 50 wide receiver.  Check it carefully as many on this list are valued significantly higher or lower than the current ADP. Feel free to agree, disagree, or just be braggart about your already…
